What is a telecoil?
Small, implanted device which acts as an antenna and picks up EM signals emitted by a phone, etc.
Where should you hold a phone for each type of hearing aid?
BTE: Receiver behind the ear
Others: normally
What are advantages and disadvantages of an automatic T-coil program?
Advantage: HI won’t switch while on the phone
Disadvantage: one more thing to worry about
How can hearing aids be used in buildings such as churches?
Buildings which have installed induction loops emit an EM signal from a transmitter (around speaker’s neck, etc) directly to a hearing aid or other receiver.
What is an FM system?
Stands for frequency modulation system, carry acoustic signals through radio waves. Transmitter worn at the source of interest, and the signal is sent to the receiver.
Gives and SNR of 20-25 dB (highest compared to other advanced tech)
What is the default children, and how does it work?
FM + microphone, which means that once a FM system is turned on the HA detects it automatically, but the microphone still allows the child to hear what’s going on around them .

What is a voice carry over phone?
H.I. person uses their own voice to relay a message, intermediary types out what communication partner says to read on a screen
