What are the two types of verification processes?
On ear verification and test box verification.
What are the two kinds of coupler, and which types of hearing aid are they used with?
HA2: BTE
HA1: everything else
What are the advantages and disadvantages of test box?
ADVANTAGES: microphones don’t move, no artifact from ambient noise
DISADVANTAGE: doesn’t include client in the process
What are the advantages and disadvantages of on the ear?
ADVANTAGES: patient included in the process, can be used to troubleshoot
DISADVANTAGES: requires patient to be still and quiet, artifact
What is RECD?
Compares size of an individual’s ear canal to that of an average ear canal, allowing for a more accurate fittign
What is MPO?
Maximum power output, ensure HA does not amplify loud sounds to be too loud to cause damage
What do the colours on a speech map mean?
Green cross: targets of the prescriptive formula
Green: hearing with the hearing aid
Blue: hearing without hearing aid
White: normal person’s hearing
