WEEK 4 - EXPERIMENTS IN CONSUMER RESEARCH Flashcards
Spurious correlation
between two unrelated variables that is caused by a third cofounding variable
Experiment
A quantitative research method that involves manipulating one or more causal variables (IV) and observing the corresponding differences in the outcome (DV).
Participants should be randomly assigned to either the experimental or control group.
Between-subjects design
experimental design in which participants are assigned to only one condition group.
Within-subjects design
All participants are exposed to every condition.
Mixed design
One factor is manipulated by a between-subject design and another factor within-subject.
Longitudinal design
repeated observation of the same variable
