Week 4 Clinical Anatomy of the Lower Limb Flashcards
what are the 2 hamstring functions
- flex the knee
2. extend the hip
what nerve supplies the deep posterior leg muscles , and what are they? (3)
tibialis posterior, flexor digitorum longus and flexor hallucis longus ie the nose of the pirate, and above the mouth.
all supplies by the tibial nerve
what supplies the superficial posterior leg muscles?
the soleus and gastroc = the medial sural cutaneous nerve!!!
what supplies the anterior leg muscles, and what are they?
the deep fibular nerve
supplies the tibialis anterior, the extensor digitoum longus and the extensor hallucis longus
where are the flexors of the leg?
posterior (deep) and lateral
where are the leg extensors?
anterior - TA, EHL and EDL
what lateral leg muscle is deepest?
fibularis brevis
where do the gastroc and soleus originate and insert
origin = femoral condyles insert = calcaneus via the achilles tendon
what 2 structures form the medial arch of the foot?
- calcaneonavicular ligament
2. tibialis posterior tendon
