Week 31 - Introduction to Surround Sound, Phase Aligning Flashcards
What is the highest amount of channels you can have on 1 track?
8
What do the divergence controls allow you to do?
Let you determine panning “accuracy”
100% allows discrete panning to speakers
Below 100%, tracks will be heard in neighboring speakers even when hard panned to one speaker
What does auto glide do?
Lets you pan by clicking new locations in the panner grid
The panning position will glide from point to point using the auto-glide time (in the mixing prefs)
How do multi-mono plugins work in pro tools?
Creates a mono plugin on each track channel
A multi-mono EQ3 plugin on a 5.0 track is like 5 copies of a mono EQ3 (one for each channel)
Controls can be linked for all channels, or tailored for each channel
A multi-mono EQ3 plugin on a 5.0 track can be used to EQ the centre differently from the left or right
How can we change how controls are linked between channels on a multi-mono plugin?
In the plugin menu you can set how controls are linked between channels
The channel selector shows you a specific channel’s parameters
Controls of all channels are linked with the masterlink
The link enable buttons allow you to link specific channels controls
How can we sample align with stock plugins?
Pro Tools comes with a stock delay plugin called Time Adjuster
Time adjuster allows for 1 sample increments starting at 4 samples
You can also use any stock delay plugins and delay by millisecond amounts
How can we sample align manually?
Set your nudge value to samples
Set your amount to 1 sample
Nudge your audio around 1 sample at a time
