Political science
offers a broad spectrum of political knowledge on both national and international issues
Theoretical framework
a set of key concepts and ideas that inform and justify a research design
democracy
a political system in which people or their representatives lawfully govern themselves
The public sphere
a social space where individuals discuss public affairs and public opinion develops
Communicative rationality
use of reason is a nessecary feature of legitimate communication in the public sphere
discourse ethics
to be authentic, conversations about civic matters need to include a diversity of perspectives and thoughtful public engagement
Cultural relativism
An approach that holds that cultural beliefs and actions cannot be measured against an objective standard
Methodological neutralism
to understand other cultures, social scientists must suppress their own moral convictions and immediate moral reactions when studying those cultures.
Methodological contextualism
every custom belief or action must be studied in the context of the history, traditions, beliefs, problems, opportunities, and total body of customs of the culture in which it is found.
cultural universalism
idea that one culture or civilisation in the world is obviously the best and therefore provides the universal standard by which every other cultures that exists can and should be judged
ethnocentrism
the uncritical belief in the superiority of ones own culture
scientific spirit
scientists must approach everything with doubt and skepticism, take nothing for granted
objectivity
scientists must try to rid themselves completely of attitudes, desires, values, beliefs and tendencies when confronting data intended to support a finding
ethical neutrality
scientists must not make value judgements about their findings, they must not pronounce their conclusions to be good or bad, right or wrong.
environmentalism
a social movement that campaigns on a broad range of issues, from endangered animals, forests to global climate change

is a series of struggles between different people and groups ion society over how natural resources should be used or not be used
