Informal political participation
An act by young people that can be ignored by government e.g Marches/protests, petitions to government
Participatory responsibilities
Voting
Knowledge, understanding and an ability to make a meaningful choice
The three facets required to vote or be convicted of a criminal offence
mens rea
criminal intent- Do they meaningfully choose to do the criminal act
universal suffrage/enfranchisement
The right to vote for as many people who are bound by a governments law as possible
Representation
when political actors, speak, advocate, symbolise and act on the behalf of others
Delegate model
Representatives should always obey local voters/ follow their expressed preferences
Trustee model
Representatives should use their own judgement and act in national interest
