Dermal, ground, and vascular

What do meristems do?
The only parts of the plant that can grow (cell division)
What direction do apical meristems grow?
From the tips of the plant
EX: leaves or stems.

Outward to produce wood

They help conserve water

They help control stomata openings for gas exchange

What are the three ground tissue cells and their cell wall thickness?
Parenchyma: Thin, flexible
Collenchyma: Long, skinny, and uneven
Sclerenchyma: Thick, dead at maturity
What direction does Xylem flow in? What does it transport?
It flows water & nutrients from roots to leaves
What direction does Phloem flow in? What does it transport?
It flows sugar/glucose from source to sink
