What is required to become a generalist psychologist?
a registered Generalist Psychologist requires the completion of a 5-year accredited sequence with a one-year board approved internship, and completion of the National Psychology Exam.
What are the requirement for the 1-year psychology internship to become registered?
The internship component requires 1630 hours of psychological practise, with a minimum of 500 direct client contact, 89 hours of supervision, and 60 hours of professional development.
What knowledge is tested in the National Psychology Exam, and what are the four domains covered?
The National Psychology Examination tests knowledge for the 5th and 6th year of applied knowledge, covering four domains: ethics, assessment, communication, and intervention.

Psychotherapy (“talk therapy”) treats psychological problems using communication and relationship factors, and is practised by a range of registered Mental Health Professional
