Nurse-client relationship
Relationship allows nurses ot apply knowlege to meet pt needs
PCC subset of professional therp. nurses gain to understand pt expereince, persective, teach to manage and achieve clinent outcomes
- Prepare to assit, promote comfort, understand
- Increase their satisfcation
- Prepare them mentally, empotionally physcially
- Ensure safe care, enocourage clients
Importance In a client-centered relation
DO’S: Polite, encouraging, understanding, promote wellbeing
DONT: Use medical jargon, sterotyping, pressure, patronize

Peplau’s Interpersonal Theory
- Believed nursing and interpersonal skills are vital
- Communication with rather than towards
- Emphasized the pt, client, and nurse client relationship
- Idenifed Three Phases of Theraputeic Relationship: Oritentation (nurse begins developing trust, ask questions) Working (make assessmnets, pt goals, shared descions, theraputic communication and self efficacy) , Transistion Phase ( ending the relationship, determine goals met)
Qualities of therapuetic behavior
Being there and being with : authencity
- Focused Model: I thou nurse using self as whole being
- Stories
- Self disclosure: share, listen, share similarties differences, client centered, self aware ( focus on needs)
- Theraputeic touch
