Social determinants of mental
It is the societal conditions in which people are born, Grow, live, work, age
What are the reasons to address the social determinants of mental health
Individual level interventions are not always effective
Mental health is this sort of interactions between biological and environmental factors
Social determinants are the main causes of population health disparities such as human rights and social justice
Mental health promotion
The process of enable people to increase control over and to improve their mental health
Ex) Increasing education to improve a persons health literacy
Mental health prevention
The process or discussing ways to use the incidents, prevalent and reoccurrence of mental health disorders and symptoms 
How many different Mental health prevention models are there and what are their names
Primary secondary and tertiary prevention models
What is the primary prevention model
Preventative measures you take before symptoms of the disorder take place or occurs
Ex) using diet and exercise early in life to prevent cardiovascular disease and increase serotonin levels
Secondary prevention
Strategies that are administered after the disorder has been recognized and is in its early stages of diagnosis
Ex) giving a patient lipid reducing medicine to lower cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of further harm to the body
Tertiary prevention
The strategies done to after suffering to help aid the severity
Ex) coronary bypass surgery
What are the three section apart of the risk benefit prevention
Universal, selective and indicated approach
Universal approach
Prevention strategies for the general public
Ex) creating traffic laws to prevent the amount of accidents
Selective approach
Prevention strategies that are for a subgroup of people who have a higher risk of developing a mental disorder
Ex) people who survived 9/11 might be screened by the hospital for ptsd, depression or anxiety
Indicated approach
Prevention strategies for people who are early showing signs of mental illness but do not display enough symptoms to be diagnosed with that particular mental disorder
Ex) meet criteria for acute stress disorder but is only at risk for ptsd
Self stigma
Stereotypes and negative attitudes that people with mental illness have about their own conditions
Public stigma
How the public/people with no mental illness stereotype mental illness
Mental health stigmas lead to
Social rejection and lack of support for public policies
