stance and distance

bladed stance
ready stance- interview stance, thinking, arms across the chest, alert, negotiation (talk with hands)
What is the right distance to stand away from perp
12 to 15 ft- any time officer approaches a perp. to get an idea of what perp attitude is.

what is incompetence

factors of observation and perception
observation (how it is seen) perception (how its interpreted). there are internal and external factors that determine your a curacy and reliability.
external factors
distance or proximity the closer an object- the more attention it will attract. ex: weather (rain,snow) will effect one’s ability to observe as will darkness. Intensity and size- contrast- repetition- movement -similarities
internal factor
fatigue, color blindness, sound, smell, emotional and psychological conditions, experience, training, education, prejudice, bias, point of view
