Week 2: Pro Taper Gold and Apex Locators Flashcards

1
Q

What the basics of ProTaper gold

A
  1. Always ensure the file is rotating before introducing it into the canal
  2. Shaping files should be used in a brushing motion
  3. Do not force the files into the canal
  4. Do not use for more than 3 passes without cleaning debris from the files and irrigating the canal
  5. Always create a glide path first using hand files

Q

List the instrumentation protocol with ProTaper gold

A
  1. Access into the pulp chamber, remove all chamber roof
  2. Scout coronal part of canal with size 10 hand file
  3. Create a glide path in straight part of the canal to size 15 hand file
  4. Create a coronal flare with SX file
  5. Scout apical part of canal with size 10 handfile
  6. Determine working length
  7. Create glide paths up to 15 to fill work length
  8. Use S1 and S2 in a brushing motion to length
  9. Take F1 into canal with single pass, light apical pressure, multiple passes until WL reached
