Awards Time Limit
Must be within 2 years of the act/achievement/service

Cannot get two awards for the same act/achievement

Given when awaiting final approval on recommendation for a higher award; revocation when higher award is approved
Award Policies
Anyone can recommend someone for an award
Based upon performance, not grade
The C Device
Meritorious service or achievement under combat conditions (not determined solely on location or unit assignment)
- hostile action or in an area where other soldiers were actively engaged
- Do not need to earn a combat badge to earn C Device
The C Device cannot be worn wtih
the Bronze Star Medal
The C Device can be on the following

The R Device
hand on employment of weapons system or other warfighting activities where a direct or immediate impact on a combat operation but from a location where the SM was neither personally exposed to hostile action, nor at risk of exposure to hostile action
