what are the apa ethics code general principals
- Beneficence and nonmaleficence ( must weight benefits and costs)
- fidelity and responsibility (professional behavior, know role in society)
- integrity (honest)
- justice (treat all fairly w out bias)
- respect for ppls rights and dignity (confidential)

two purposes of debriefing
- dehoaxing: reveal true purpose of the study and hypothesis to participants
- Desensitizing: reducing stress/neg feelings that arose during participation
guidelines for research w animals
- sentient animals have the same rights as humans (privacy, autonomy, and freedom from harm)
- apa: must follow state and federal guidelines, justify the study, proper care of animals during and after study, and use animals for educational not research purposes
