What does NDE stand for and what’s the corrected version?

What are the elements of after death communications?

What is Peri-Mortal experience
- The experience people have that someone they love has died
- Mothers sensing a child has died, people realizing a family member or friend has died in a war
- People dreaming about Elvis’ death in advance
What are Death Coincidents? Purpose?
- The living accompanying the deceased on their journey and then return to their own bodies
- Can be similar to NDEs
Purpose
- Easing the loss
- Grief intensity is lessened
- Hope
What is near death awareness?
Dying people develop an awareness of when they are going to die and have visions of others who are deceased
What are 2 themes of heart death awareness? (NDA)
- Dying person interacts with someone not visible to others
- An awareness that someone or something is needed in order for death to be peaceful
What do people see in hallucinations/visions close to death?
- Spirits of deceased relatives and friends
- May be for minutes or hours
What are the 4 parts to the spirit hypothesis?
- There is someone with the person experiencing NDE (even for atheists)
- Spirits are deceased
- Person is clinically dead (flat lined)
- Seeing spirits is normative of NDEs
What is Lucid consciousness?
Something experienced separate from the body and brain
What is clinical death?
No palpable pulse or blood pressure
RED are typically found with people going through what?
Through a clinical death followed by resuscitation

Peace 60%
Autoscopic 37%
entering the darkness 23%
seeing the light 16%

Most people report an overwhelming sense of peace, joy, and well being
What are the events that typically lead up to an NDR or RED
- Cardiac arrest in MI
- Shock in postpartum loss of blood
- Anaphylactic shock (allergic reaction)
- Electrocution
- Coma resulting from brain trauma
- Intracerebral hemorrhage
- Attempted suicide
- Near drowning
- Asphyxia or apnea (cessation of breathing)
What are elements of NDE?
- A sense that death is near or awareness of being dead
- Consciousness has separated from the body (autoscopic)
- Entering a darkness and moving through a transitional space
- Meeting and encountering beings of light
- A nearly instantaneous, panoramic, life review
- Feeling a oneness with the universe
- Approaching an uncrossable boundary
- Being told that one must return to one’s body
- Retiring to the body
Who has NDE’s?
- Children (report time has speeded up)
- Adults
