Discuss the development of the genre waiata ā-ringa

A

Emerged in 1906 at International exhibition in Chch. Several pacific island groups brought their own styles. 1923 Princess Te Puea Kapahaka group toured around the north of the N. Island with the first modern action song. 1934 ‘Te Rēhia’ award given for most outstanding kapahaka group. competition put on by lord and lady Bledisloe took place in Northland.
