Organizational leadership
The act of influencing employees from various teams, units, and other groups to achieve a common purpose.
Challenges with leadership:
- Establishing a common purpose

- Output

Implications of output control mechanism
- Easiest to implement
- May give rise to unethical behavior
- Not as objective
- not future-oriented.
Implications of behavior control mechanism
- Costly
* Difficult to implement everywhere/all the time.

- Difficult to establish and change
- Effective once established
- Preserves individual autonomy.

How decisions are made; consistent, unbiased, representative, appeals process

- Percentage recruited, retained, and promoted
