What is cultural intelligence
the ability to be effective in a culturally diverse setting. It can be used as a framework to assess competencies (learning outcomes) developed as a result of intercultural experiences

What is my motivation?
- A person’s interest & condense in functioning effectively in culturally diverse settings
- Intrinsic - deriving enjoyment form (like to try new foods or cultures)
- Extrinsic - Gaining benefit from
- Self-efficacy - having the confidence to be effective in
- Individuals with high motivation have the drive that triggers the effort and energy required to be successful in model, cultural settings
what is CQ knowledge
What cultural understanding do I need?
- A person’s knowledge about how cultures are similar and how they are different
- business - knowledge about economic and legal systems
- Values & norms
- Sociolinguistic - knowledge about rules and languages & rules for expressing non-verbal behaviours
- Leadership
- Interperosnal - knowledge bout values, social interaction, norms, religious beliefs, how they value site punctuality
- basic grasp is the first step
What is CQ strategy
What is my plan? (meta-cognitive, higher level thinking)
- How a person can make sense of culturally diverse experiences, occurs when people make judgements about heir own thought processes and those of tothers
- planning - strategizing before a culturally diverse encounter
- Awareness - knowing one’s existing cultural knwoeldh
- checking - checking assumptions & adjusting mental maps when actual experiences differ from expectations
- Inividuals who are strategiec are more consciously aware and better able to answer question assumptions before, during and after intercultural interactions

1) Intercultural motivation - Means that you are curious about new surroundings and cultures & actively seek out learning opportunities
2) Intercultural knowledge - you have a good understanding of how cultures are similar and different (having knowledge of appropriate behaviours
3) Strategic thinking - when you use your knowledge and understanding of different cultures to plan effective intercultural interactions (planning how you will use that knowledge)
4) appropriate behaviour - you demonstrate flexibility in your interactions and able to recognize and adapt to cultural nuances in the workplace and beyond
