  1. Astringent Hemostatics - Used for most types of bleeding problems, they are especially good for bleeding caused by Qi or Yang de6iciency
  2. Blood-Cooling Hemostatics - Used when heat in the blood causes bleeding
  3. Unobstructing Hemostatics - Stop bleeding by removing obstruction from the channel
  4. Channel-Warming Hemostatics - These stop bleeding by warming the channels after they contract of spasm when exposed to cold

The causes of Blood Stagnation are: -Qi Stagnation -Trauma -Cold -Qi and Yang Deficiency Symptoms of Blood Stagnation: -Fixed, stabbing, or sharp pain -Pulse is Choppy

Examples of Blood Stagnation: -Dysmenorrhea -Amenorrhea -Angina -Tumors Cautions: Blood Activating herbs are not recommended for use during pregnancy, especially during the 6irst trimester.

A

Definition: Any herb that nourishes and toni6ies the blood. General nature: Sweet Channels: Heart, Liver, Spleen Why? The Heart circulates the Blood; the Liver stores the Blood; the Spleen produces the Blood. The causes of Blood De6iciency are: 1. Spleen Qi de6iciency 2. Hemmorrhage 3. Yin de6iciency Symptoms of Blood De6iciency: -Pale face -Pale lips -Dizziness -Blurry vision -Dry skin -Palpitations -Poor memory -Tinnitus -Tongue- Pale -Pulse- Thready When nourishing the Blood it is common to combine Blood tonics with Qi tonics because when a patient has Blood de6iciency they often have concurrent Qi de6iciency. Caution: These herbs are rich and cloying Use cautiously when there is Spleen De6iciency with Dampness.
