What is a supply chain:
A system of producing and getting products to end users
Supply chain management:
the process of managing each stage of the supply chain
A marketing channel is:
a set of interdependent organisations involved in making a product or service available to users
How channel members add value:
by bridging time, place, and possession gaps that seperate goods and services from those who use them
Marketing channel selection:
Customer characteristics, product attributes, type of organisation, competition, marketing environmental forces, characteristics or intermediaries
Vertical marketing system:
combines successive stages of production and distribution under single ownership, channel leadership is established through common ownership
Conventional marketing channel:
consists of one or more independent producers, wholesales, and retailers, each a seperate business selling to maximise its own profits
Horizontal marketing system:
Two or more companies at the same level work together
Strategic issues in retailing:
location of store, making sure it is in a place of your target market.
