Circulatory
Provides oxygen and nutrients to cells, gets rid of waste, regulates heat.
Contains the heart, blood vessels, and blood.
Digestive
The physical and chemical breakdown of food, absorbs nutrients, etc.
Contains the mouth, oesophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, anus, liver, pancreas, and gall bladder.
Integumentary
Protects the body, regulates temperature, detects sensations.
Includes the skin and structures derived from it e.g. hair, nails, sweat glands.
Skeletal
Provides support, protection, and movement to the body, stores calcium.
Includes bones, joints, cartilage, bone marrow, and ligaments
Muscular
Produces body movement, posture, generates heat, moves substances.
Includes skeletal muscle tissue, tendons.
Nervous
Uses nerve impulses to regulate body activity, and detects and responds to stimuli.
Includes the brain, spinal cord, nerves, eyes, and ears.
Respiratory
Exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide, regulates acidity, produces sound.
Contains the lungs, trachea, bronchi, sinuses, nose, mouth.
Immune
Defence against foreign invaders.
Includes lymphatic fluid, vessels, spleen, thyroid gland, lymph nodes
Endocrine
Releases hormones for coordination of body function.
Includes the pituitary gland, thyroid gland, pancreas, kidney, adrenal cortex, glands, gonads and endocrine tissues.
Reproductive
Produce gametes to form a new organism.
Includes the ovaries, uterus, testes, scrotum, ductus deferentia, cervix, vagina, peanus, labia, clitoris.
Urinary
Urine production, storage and elimination, regulates blood solutes with water.
Includes the kidneys, ureters, urinary bladder, urethra.
