Q

Define broad ligaments and components

A
  • peritoneal reflection over the uterus extended laterally, each broad ligament enclosing an ovary, ovarian ligament, uterine tube, round ligament

Q

Structures involved in the emission and ejaculation pathway

A
  1. Emission: from tail of epididymis to prostatic urethra. Sympathetic innervation.
    - vas deferens
    - seminal vesicles
    - prostate
    - prostatic urethra
  2. Ejaculation: from prostatic urethra to external urethral meatus. Somatic innervation.

Q

Innervation into the pelvic cavity: sympathetics

A

Sympathetics

  • from T12 to L2 via lumbar splanchnic (symp/pre, VS pain)
  • superior hypogastric plexus (symp/mixed, VS pain): synapse on mini ganglia
  • hypogastric nerves (symp/post, VS pain)
  • Inferior hypogastric plexuses (symp/post, VS pain)
