Anachronism
assignment of something to a time when it was not in existence.
Anaphora

Apostrophe

Asyndeton
omission of connecting words in a list.
Litotes
type of irony or understatement where an idea is expressed by negating the opposite.
Metonymy
type of metaphor in which something closely associated with a subject is substituted.
Polysyndeton
repeated use of conjunctions to link together a succession of words, clauses, or sentences.
Satire
mode of writing that exposes the failings of individuals, institutions or societies to ridicule and scorn.
Synecdoche
type of metaphor in which a part of something is used to signify the whole.
Synesthesia
describing one kind of sensation in terms of another.
