What is a perineal massage

A

Inserting finger(s) about 2 inches into the vagina and rubbing the vaginal canal in a side to side motion, while adding light pressure to slowly stretch the walls of the vagina, for 10-154 minutes

What are the benefits of perineal massage?

A

-Increase stretchiness of the tissues in the perineal area
-Increase elasticity
-Soften tissues around scar from previous EPIS
-Prep a woman for sensations of crowning during the birth
