What is population health?
The health outcome of a group of individuals, including the distribution of such outcomes within the group.
What is public health?
It promotes and protects the health of people and the communities where they live, learn, work and play.
What is community health?
Focuses on identify resource within communities in order maintain, protect, and improve health status of population groups and communities
Who is John Snow?
(godfather of public health, father of epidemiology ) - he invented anesthesia, created new methods for medical hygiene
Cholera: spread through a single pump because the bacteria went into that specific pump, many people drank from this pump because it tasted sweeter then water from the other pumps. The bacteria needed a host to grow in.
What followed the contagion control?
(1880-1940s) - became the focus of public health in this time period. Was created after cholera.
