Convection Currents
A current in a fluid that results from convection
Sea Breeze
A breeze blowing toward the land from the sea, especially during the day owning to the relative warmth of the land
Land Breeze
A breeze blowing toward the sea from the land, especially at night, owning to the relative warm the of the sea
Coriolis Effect
The rotation of the Earth cause objects in the northern hemisphere to deflect right while objects in Southern Hemisphere to deflect left
Jet Stream
A band of very fast moving wind caused by differences in temperatures
Trade Winds
Wind that blow toward the equator
Doldrums
A spot near the equator where there are very few winds
Prevailing winds
A wind that blows from a single general direction
Prevailing westerlies
The west to east winds that occur in the temperate zones of the earth
El Niño
A warm ocean current along the coast of Ecuador and Peru that cause bad weather conditions
La Niña
A cool ocean current after El Niño that cause the opposite weather conditions
Gulf Stream
A warm ocean current of the northern Atlantic Ocean off eastern North America
Polar easterlies
The dry prevailing winds that blow from the high pressure areas of the polar highs at the North and South Poles
