Physical Science Flashcards
Radiation
The emission of energy as electromagnetic waves
Convection
The movement caused within a fluid by the tendency of hotter and therefor less dense material to rise
Conduction
The process by which heat or electricity is directly transmitted through a substance
Physical Property
A property that is measurable
Physical Change
A change affecting the form of a chemical substance
Chemical property
A property or characteristic of a substance that is observed
Chemical Change
A usually irreversible chemical reaction involving the rearrangement of the atoms of one or more substances
Speed
The rate at which someone or something is able to move
Friction
The resistance that one surface or object encounters when moving over another
Newton’s 1st Law
An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion
Newton’s 2nd Law
The acceleration of an object as produced by a net force is directly proportional to the magnitude of the net force
Newton’s 3rd Law
Every action there is an equal and opposite reaction
