16
Q

Name factor affecting hazard risks

A

Magnitude
Population density
Time of day

17
Q

What are the layers of the earth

A

Crust
Mantle
Outer core
Inner core

18
Q

How do ice cores contain evidence of climate change

A

They contain CO2 trapped in the ice - so by analysing these layers we can discover the concentration of CO2 during the years - a black line / ash layer in the ice core usually suggests a volcanic eruption has occurred

19
Q

How do temperature records contain evidence of climate change

A

Through comparing data from the present day since about 1850.

20
Q

How does pollen analysis contain evidence of climate change

A

Pollen is found in peat bogs. It tells us which plants were growing at the time, which tells us whether the climate was warm or cold.

21
Q

How do tree rings contain evidence of climate change

A

The rings are thicker when the climate is warmer and wetter (thinner in cold and dry climates) - dendrochronology - shows climate proportions

22
Q

How does the size of the stomata contain evidence of climate change

A

Smaller stomata - large CO2 concentration
Larger stomata - less CO2 concentration
