Weather And Climate Flashcards
What is the difference between weather and climate
Weather is at a particular place and time . Climate is the average weather in an area over 30 years
Words to describe weather and a separate list for climate
Weather- temperature, air pressure, humidity and sunshine
Climate- tropical, temperate, arid and polar
Name all the different atmospheres in order
Troposphere, Stratosphere, Mesosphere, Thermosphere and Exosphere
What is precipitation
When any form of water become too heavy for the clouds to it’s drops
What is relief rainfall
The air rises because of the hills and condenses. Rain falls on one side ofthe mountains and the other side is called the rain shadow because it is drier.
What is conventional rainfall
The ground is heated by the sun and the moisture evaporates but the vapour condenses. Warm air pushes the droplets high and suspend them there but sometimes they go too high and form hail. The droplets fall and are followed by sunshine.
What is frontal rainfall
A warm air mass meets a cold air mass and the warm air is pushed over the cold air and creates a front. The warm air cools and condenses .
Why are climate graphs useful
It gives you an idea of when to start seasonal events like agriculture and gives you the average and what to expect
What are the disadvantages of climate graphs
You can get mixed between the rainfall and temperature. It only shows the average not any sudden changes as it could be very sunny one day but the next it was raining heavily.
What side does the temperature go in a climate graph
Right
