What does VFR not recommended mean?
-define VFR, MVFR, IFR, etc. Marginal VFR (MVFR): Ceilings 1,000 to 3,000 feet and/or visibility is 3-5 miles inclusive
What kind of briefings are there?

-Standard, Abbreviated, Outlook A standard briefing is requested for flights that are due to depart within six hours, and requires the following information: Type of flight (VFR or IFR). Aircraft identification. Aircraft type Cruising true airspeed. Departure airport. Proposed departure time. Proposed cruising altitude. Route of flight. Destination. Estimated time en route. Remarks Fuel on board Alternate airport. An Outlook briefing is requested if your proposed departure time is six hours or more in the future. And an abbreviated briefing is requested to update an earlier briefing. Each of these briefings will give you current weather information for airports along your route, forecasts and winds aloft.

AIRMET vs SIGMET(sever-extreme), how many types and how often are they issued?
^ Yes, weather advisories mainly for smaller aircraft. There are 3 types: Zulu, tango and sierra issued every 6 hours.

- mod icing or greater
AIRMET Tango
- mod turbulence LLWS, 30kt sus wd@sfc
Possible light-moderate turbulence as well as surface winds of 30 or more knots.
AIRMET Sierra - at what ceiling and visibility are they issued
mtn obsc/ ifr condition
Cloud ceilings are at less than 1,000 feet. There is also the possibility of having less than three miles of visibility over half of the affected area, which can result in mountain obscuration.
Convective SIGMETS
^ Thunderstorms, Tornadoes, 50kt winds at surface, hail greater than 3/4 inch diameter.
What are the stages of a thunderstorm?
Cumulus, mature, and dissipating.
What happens during those stages of a thunderstorm?
^ Cumulus is defined by updrafts and lifting action, mature has precipitation with updrafts and downdrafts which makes it the most dangerous, and dissipating is mostly downdrafts.
