On a set of axes, what does the line tell us?
It shows the displacement of the particles of the medium the wave is travelling through from their undisturbed positions at a moment in time.
What are crests and troughs?
The points of maximum positive and maximum negative displacement from the particle’s rest position.
What are wavefronts?
imaginary lines drawn from identical points on waves
What is the amplitude of the wave?
The maximum displacement of a point on the wave from its undisturbed position.
What is the wavelength?
The distance between the same point on two adjacent waves.
What is the frequency?
The number of waves produced a second (Hz).
What is the period of a wave?
The amount of time it takes for a full cycle of the wave to be completed.
Period = 1/frequency
