Water Transport Flashcards
1
Q
Symplast pathway
A
Go through living cells - the cytoplasm. Travels via osmosis. Cytoplasm of neighbouring cells connect through plasmodesmata
2
Q
Apoplast pathway
A
Goes through nonliving parts of the cell - cell wall. Very absorbent and water can simply diffuse in them. Water can carry solutes and move from areas of high hydrostatic pressure to low hydrostatic pressure (mass flow)
