Mitosis Flashcards
Interphase
So carry out a curry is our normal functions And DNA are prepared to divide by unravelling and replication, organelles also replicated so we have spare ones and it’s ATP content is increased (ATP provides energy)
Prophase
The chromosomes condense getting shorter and fatter, tiny bundles of protein called centrioles start moving to opposite ends of the cell forming a network of fibres called a spindle. Nuclear envelope break down and nucleus lie in the cytoplasm
Metaphase
The chromosomes line up along the middle of the cell and become attached to the spindle by centromere. at the Metaphase checkpoints and the cell checks the chromosomes are attached to the spindle before mitosis can continue
Anaphase
The Centromeres divide separating each pair of sister chromatid. spindles contract, pulling chromatids to opposite ends of the cell
Telophase
Chromatids reach opposite poles on the spindle. They uncoil and become long and thin. They become chromosomes again. A nuclear envelope develop and now are two nuclei
Cytokinesis
Cytoplasm divides, a clevage furrow forms to divide the cell membrane and are now two daughter cells that are genetically identical.
