Water On Earth Flashcards
Water Cycle
The continuous cycle in which water changes from water vapor in the atmosphere to liquid water through condensation and precipitation and then back to water vapor through evaporation, transpiration, and respiration.
Evaporation
Evaporation is defined as the process of a liquid changing into a gas.
Condensation
When water vapor turns from a gas to a liquid
Precipitation
Examples: Hail, rain, sleet, snow
Runoff
The water that runs into lakes, rivers, ponds, ect after precipitation.
Accumulation
When the water gathers into big area of water.
Sublimation
When ice evaporates without first melting
Frost
When white ice crystals form on objects when its below freezing.
Transpiration
When condensation sweats out of plants.
Cirrus Clouds
Are the highest clouds and are thin and wispy.
Vertical Clouds
They are long and dark and can cause thunderstorms. They have two other names. Cumulonimbus and Thunderheads
Cumulus clouds
They are white and big and puffy.
Stratus Clouds
