What’s the water cycle

A

Water never leaves Earth, it is constantly being cycled this is known as the water cycle

What’s evaporation

A

Water that evaporates from the Earth’s oceans, lakes and moist soil rises up into the atmosphere, it also occurs in plants it is called transpiration

What’s condensation

A

When water vapour rises, it starts to cool and become a liquid again. It is called condensation. When a large amount of water vapour condenses, it results in the formation of clouds

What’s precipitation

A

When the water in the clouds gets too heavy, it falls back to Earth. Precipitation can be in the form of rain, hail, sleet or snow

A

If the ground is hard or very wet rain water just runs along it

A

Rain soaks into the ground. This is called infiltration ( permeable rocks )

A

The rest soaks down, and fills up the pores and cracks in the rock. Now it is called groundwater
