WATER CYCLE Flashcards
It is essential for all
living things on Earth,
including plants, animals,
and people.
It is important to conserve it and use
it wisely to help protect our
environment.
WATER
The
journey that water takes
around the Earth
A fascinating process that
keeps the Earth’s water
supply constantly moving
and changing.
WATER CYCLE
Is the process that
changes liquid water to
gaseous water (water
vapor).
Liquid to Gas
Evaporation
It is the evaporation of
water from within
plants, through
opening in their leaves, known as stomata.
Transpiration
Is the process by which
water vapor is changed
back into liquid water.
Gas to Liquid
Condensation
Is the process by which
water returns to Earth’s
surface from the
atmosphere.
Precipitation
The process of
water being
absorbed into
the ground.
Infiltration
A precipitation that
does not soak into the soil
but instead moves on the
Earth’s surface toward
streams.
Run-off
Is the stage of the water
cycle where water is
temporarily collected and
stored.
