Water Analysis Flashcards
Why can electrical Conductivity be used to measure the level of salt in the river.
Because EC can be used to measure levels of salt in the river because ions dissolved in water are required for it to conduct electricity. The more ions there are from dissolved salts, the greater the conductivity.
What were the trends in salt content before early 1980’s and after early 1980’s
Before the early 1980’s there was increasing trend and since early 1980’s there has been a decreasing trend
Why is it incorrect to interpret results from evidence of sodium chloride content.
Ions from other salts are probably present also,
Why is it correct to interpret results in terms of total salt content?
Conductivity is related to the total amount of all ions present. It does not depend on which ions are present
If concentration of diluted solution is 13, the percentage by mass of phosphorus in the detergent is
1.3%
