Q

Describe the cohesion-tension theory of water transport in the xylem

A

-The loss of water via transpiration decreases the water potential of the mesophyll cells.
- This pulls water up the xylem putting it under tension.
- Inside the column, the water molecules adhere to the walls and are held together by hydrogen bonds
