Q

What does conductivity measure?

A

Conductivity is a measure of the ability of water to pass an electrical current. Because dissolved salts and other inorganic chemicals conduct electrical current, conductivity increases as salinity increases.

Q

_____________ is a measure of the amount of solid particles suspended in water. It is a water quality parameter that measures the dry weight of solid particles that are not dissolved in a water sample. It can include soil, algae, plankton, microbes, silt, clay, and other inorganic substances.

Q

_____________ in water refers to the combined amount of inorganic salts and small amounts of organic matter that are dissolved in a given volume of water, essentially measuring the concentration of minerals, metals, and ions present in the water, including elements like calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, chloride, and sulfate; essentially anything dissolved in water that isn’t just H2O molecules.

A

Total dissolved solids (TDS)
