Water 🧪 Flashcards
What happens in stage one of water purification?
Aluminum sulphate Al2(SO4)3 is added to remove microbes and pathogens and dead organisms so they settle at the bottom. Aluminium sulphate is a coagulant
What happens in stage two of water purification?
I’m sedimentation, sand, small stones, twigs etc. are all collected and settle down
What happens in stage three of water purification?
All the remaining insoluble particles are removed in the filtration process
What happens in stage four of water purification?
Chlorine is added as a disinfectant to kill germs, bacteria, etc.
What happens in stage five of water purification?
Water is stored in a reservoir
What are the 6 stages of water purification?
Water intake
Coagulation
Sedimentation
Filtration
Disinfection
