waste disposal- Plastic process machine Flashcards
when carrying out an COSHH assessment what information should be referred to ?
- JSP 395(F)
- Hazard data sheets
what os the function of the plastic processing machine?
to reduce the volume of ships waste (PLASTIC) by means of shredding, heating and compaction, to form a sealed ‘slug’ prior to disposal
discribe the air cooling system?
once the plastic is compacted against the gate, heating elements mounted in the compactor ram head, compactor chamber and gate are energised to heat the plastic easte to a temperature of 200 degrees
after pre-determined time the heaters are switched off and a fa blows cooling air over the heated areas until the temperature drops to approximately 70 degrees
list the fault indications
- shredder fault
- compactor fault
- gate fault
- gate clamp fault
- diverted fault
- heater fault
- continuous monitoring fault
- infra-red sensor fault
what are the heater over temperature warnings ?
RAM HEAD HEATER HIGH TEMP- red- 220 degrees
BARREL HEATER HIGH TEMP - red- 220 degrees
GATE HEATER HIGH TEMP - red- 220 degrees
what are the miscellaneous alarms and warnings
- slug cooling - amber
- system fault -amber
- motor overheat - red
- fluid low -amber
- waste required
- remove slug
- rest
- start process
- part slug
- lamp test
explain the air cooling system process
- the air cooling system consist is of continuous running air blowing, a diverter flap valve and associated trunking and hoses
- the air cooling system extracts fumes from the hopper and chamber barrel or via the diverter flap vlave it can divert the air flow ro cool the heaters and slug
- cooling of the slug is achieved by pulling air over the slug and into the filter located in the base unit
to enable access to the compaction chamber, the machine has to be reconfigured using the MAINTAINERS SWITCH, what are the three positions?
OFF
open chamber
heat/spray
