Define dangerous good
A product, substance or organism that by its nature or by the regulations in TDG
-in any of the classes listed in the schedule to that act
Define waste
Any solid, liquid material, product or combination of them that is intended to
- be treated or disposed of or that is intended to be stored and then treated or disposed of,
- but does not include recyclables
Define hazardous waste
Waste that has one or more of the properties described in schedule 1
-but does not include those wastes listed in schedule 2
Define hazardous recyclable
A recyclable has one or more of the properties described in schedule 1
Define inert waste
Solid waste (only solid) that is not expected to undergo a change that could cause an adverse effect
Define oilfield waste
And unwanted substance or mixture that results from the construction operation, abandonment or reclamation of faculty, well or pipeline
From a regulation perspective waste in AB can be subdivided into 2 streams
- Oil field waste (AER)
2. Non-oil field waste (AEP)
Each stream is subdivided into:
- Non-hazardous waste (NHW) also called delisted
- Hazardous waste (HW)
- Hazardous Recyclables (HR)
Waste streams not considered hazardous under AEPEA and WCR
- household
- agro
- domestic
- radioactive
- waste resulting from emergency spill clean-ups
- biomedical
- haz recyclables
- oilfield waste
