George Washington because he was a capable and honest leader.

What was the XYZ affair?
An incident between France and the U.S in its late 18th century. France was upset with the U.S because of the situation with the revolutionary war (us staying neutral and not following the treaty) so they began to steal American’s ships and men. The U.S sent men to try to relieve tension, but France demanded bribes/money. They used x,y, and z as their names to stay anonymous. (Quasai war starts)
What treaty did Washington agree with/supported
Jay’s treaty. (a deal made between the British and U.S to settle some disputes after the Revolutionary War to avoid any more conflict)
What was the Whiskey Rebellion? How did it lead the army to prove that Congress has the right to tax?
A protest against Whiskey taxes, farmers in Pennsylvania made the whiskey and believed the taxes were unnecessary. Washington sent militia to resort the issue, using force. This showed everyone that the gov had the authority to enforce and collect taxes within the U.S.
What group of people did Thomas Jefferson believe we should rely on in the late 1790’s?
Farmers. They were very independent, and they made a lot of the things that everybody was trading/making people wealthy.
Was John Adams and anti-federalist, or a federalist?
Federalist.
Who didn’t want war with France?
John Adams, even though he’s a federalist
Alexander Hamilton’s many ideas to help our country:
-Repaying the full values on bonds (financial)
-Assumption of state debts (wanted to ease debts from rev war.)
-Tariffs and Revenue ( Believed that tariffs would help promote economic growth by encouraging trade and domestic manufacturing.)

What’s an electoral college?
A group of people that elect a president. (To take less time, and balancing the state’s power)
What’s a precedent?
A trend somebody starts after doing something for the first time that gets followed.
What 3 courts did the judiciary act of 1789 create? How did they define their relationship with state courts?
District courts, Circuit courts, and the Supreme court. Grew relationship by suggesting that cases should be looked over.
