technology Flashcards
Input definition
tells the system what is expected
(what you want your desired outcome to be)
Process definition
the action part (achieve the desirable results)
Output definition
the actual results you get.
Monitor definition
observe the results
adjustment definition
compare and make changes (adjustments) in the process.
What is thrust?
The force that moves an object in a direction
What’s a drag?
The resistance of air over the surface of the dragster
(way to remember: air DRAGS itself over the surface of the car)
what’s gravity?
the force that pulls an object back to Earth
what’s friction?
is the resistance of two surfaces rubbing together
which subsystem of your dragster controls the wheels on the car?
Axles
what’s a subsystem?
tiny components that are used to CREATE the system.
(ex: engine is component, car is system)
what loop system gives us feedback and has a monitor?
the open loop system
(way to remember: open minded people use more resources!)
what loop system doesn’t give feedback, and doesn’t have a monitor?
the close open loop
(way to remember: close minded people use less resources!)
What’s newton’s law of motion?
For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. When air rushes down in a balloon, the results is the balloon floating up.
reasons CO2 dragsters lose races?
-friction between the axles and the straw
-friction between the wheels and the dragster body
friction between the string and the screw eyes
-bent wheels
-poor reaction time
