What is the Navigation Acts (passed 1660-1673)
rules made by the British in the 1600s to control trade with their American colonies. They required colonial goods to be shipped mainly to England and transported on English ships.
What was in the Navigation Acts?
(Rule 1) only ships built in England or America could trade in the colonies
(Rule 2) certain products could only be traded with England ex. Tobacco/indigo and American Shippers had to sometimes pay customs duty(trade tax)
(Rule 3) any imported goods into the colonies had to go through English Ports (England) (↑prices)
(Rule 4) England prohibited colonists from manufacturing some goods (preventing -competition)

The colonists were fighting with the British over laws, and blaming them for the loss of their jobs. They began to throw sticks and snow at the British, so the British fired and killed 5 colonists.
