How did reformation mean the birth time for the c of e happened?
Point: reformation showed a more civilised independent church being formed
Evidence: st dunstan lead to near end of corruption and education of priests monks and nuns .
Analysis: lead to a more civilised church therefore an independent and more professional and formal way of worship that was different to others but in a good way because of the now honesty of the church.
How does the uniqueness of English churches mean it was unique?
Point: uniqeness shows how it is different to Roman Catholic.
Evidence: strong influence of Celtic’s design on Celtic cross and ties to paganism merged to create new church
Analysis: demonstrates the difference of English church because it was 3 merged so couldn’t be similar to anything else
Why was the Anglo Saxon church corrupt?
Point: corrupt lead to religion not improving
Evidence: archbishop stigand took two positions as called Simony which was a broke church rules and committed simony which is the selling of church positions.
Analysis: church was corrupt therefore not focused on religion so quality was declining
Why was church corrupt which meant it was a bad version of other churches?
Point: basic compared to other churches so couldn’t be same
Evidence: pope thought it was backward and poorly educated preists
Analysis: shows how the Anglo Saxons didn’t value religion because even the pope dissapeoved and didn’t put the effort in to make it better so just a poor version of Roman Catholic Church
