what is a warrant and its purpose

Warrants are used for various purposes for either arrest or search. A warrant is a document giving authority to person named to carry out instructions therein
1) warrants are typically issued by the court
2) issued by any member of the police
3) various types of warrants are
a) warrant to arrest - issued by registrar, magistrate or judge
b) warrant to imprison - issued by registrar, magistrate or judge
c) search warrant - issued by magistrate or judge
d) remand warrant - issued by bail justice, magistrate or judge
what is an affidavit

1) a written statement made by a person who is,
a) sworn or
b) affirmed
before a person authorised to administer the oath that the contents of statement are true.
2) vic pol will prepare affidavits for the purpose of obtaining search warrants.
what is a jurat

1) a certification at the end of an affidavit
2) must be completed by
a) sergeant or above or
b) person for time being in charge of police station
