-Dark connotes depression and evil.
-Suggests he is struggling and very upset.
-Finally suggests a sense of relief that he needs to get away from what he has seen.
-Ambiguity - dark connotes his physical room is not bright and quite depressing yet we also metaphorically realise he is in a dark place mentally and feeling very distressed and upset.

-Image. Emphasises the agony and pain that people endured in war and his photos represent that.
-Sibilance creates a whispering tone for respect for the people.
-Spools emphasises the amount as there is so many photos of bodies.

-Suggests he is trying to find control in all of the chaos and find a way to cope.
-Ordered rows reminds us of bodies being set up for burial.
-He is clearly struggling and trying to create order among the frenzy.
-Connotations of lining up for the confession box or church.
-Ambiguity symbolises the photographs lined up which emphasises how many there are yet it also emphasise the dead bodies and graves lined up

-Red connotes bloodshed and the comparison reminds us of a confession box.
-Just as you tell a priest your darkest sins so too he has seen this of the world
as though this were a church and he a priest preparing to intone a Mass. 2
-Religious connotation suggesting he is devoted to his work.
-Just as intoning a mass is a eulogy for remembering people that comforts family and friends so too he can influence how people are remembered who died in war.

-Series of minor sentences emphasises the extent of gunfire as we hear the alliteration of P.
-It also emphasises how much war and terror is around the world.

-Biblical reference. Comes from the psalm which emphasises the idea that all life is transient.

- Short sentence emphasises the idea that he feels his job is a duty and it is very important despite the fact he is suffering.
-Can be admirable as he is struggling so much and still carrying on
which did not tremble then though seem to now. 3
-Tremble connotes shaking and being frightened which emphasises the trauma he has endured.
-This tells us he is a strong man as he is insisting on working throughout the pain since his employment is very vital.
-We feel pain for him as he is suffering

peace and tranquillity which emphasises the luxury that they live.

-running children connotes a panic and desperate to escape.

-Nightmare connotes something monstrous and scary and heat connotes burning and pain
start to twist before his eyes, 2
-Twist connotes something perverse and wrong, causing agony.
-The idea of the picture developing the memory in his head.
a half-formed ghost. 4
-Ghost connotations of haunting and death.
-Something scary and traumatic so it emphasises how the memories traumatise him and will never leave him.
-It will constantly affect him.
-Idea that the photograph is not fully developed so the memory isn’t fully visible but the ghost is also telling us that he is being haunted by death.
He remembers the cries of this man’s wife, 2
-connotations of cry are upset and wailing.
-Remember suggests he hasn’t forgotten and will not forget this.
