A

Word choice of ‘finally’ suggests the WP is yearning for the freedom and isolation from the suffering. ‘Darkroom’ acts as a sort of sanctuary where he can reflect/come to terms with what he’s seen.

Photo is literally forming however on a deeper level just as a ghost will haunt and spook someone so too the mental image of the dying man will stick with the photographer and will will deeply disturb the photographer mentally

Just as this is a religious verse from the bible which meant that life without god is nothing so too Duffy is implying that we all die and become earth again creating a dark image.

“Spools of suffering” Metaphor which emphasises the horrors the images contain.
“Ordered rows”
Just as the photographer is trying to find order for the chaotic and disturbing images so too the photographer is mentally trying to park his disturbed memory’s to the side and return to sanity
